 Namanga.. “it’s always 5 o’clock”

Namanga

Namanga ……I had been eyeing Namanga as a destination for a long time but something always came up.

And I figured it would make an ideal “Vuka mwaka” party. Being that the year was ending and I knew my team needed something refreshing and unique.

I intended to end the year in style and this Namanga tour would definitely make the cut.

I took the time to do my research and came up with a detailed roadmap of the tour.

Indelible Namanga

Namanga is a border town of KenyaTanzania . it is in longido district, Tanzania and kajiado county, kenya. it is around 110 kilometers from Arusha, Tanzania. Namanga’s economy has been heavily dependent on tourism both local and international since 2004 as tourists visiting the nearby Amboseli National Park passed through the town from Nairobi (183 kilometers to the north

The days and went and in no time, it was 31st Dec, 2023.

I couldn’t wait to make this trip a reality.

Our whole team was from Nakuru and as early as 7:00 am everyone was at the designated pickpoint. And off we drove to Namanga. But our little trip was cut short with a sudden mechanical failure a few km from Naivasha.

It definitely wasn’t part of the plan. I was quick to coordinate with some stakeholders and in a span of 30 minutes, the rescue van was up & ready to go.

And we took off with our next destination being Nairobi. We made some stops at Limuru view point to enjoy the beautiful sceneries.

We made it to Nairobi and our next stopover was club 034 in Kitengela. The owners of this space really hit it off with this one. The club is majestically designed in an old plane giving the actual look and feel of being on a plane.

We took some photos while enjoying a couple of drinks. It was one hell of a fascinating ordeal.

Again we were on the road headed to Namanga. It was quite a long journey but with the good company and vibe it felt short.

In no time, we were finally at Namanga One Stop Border. At the customs offices; they conducted a brief inspection of our IDs and we were granted permission to cross the border.

We exchanged our monies to Tanzanian currency and were ready to crush this “vuka mwaka” party from this beautiful country.

We checked-in to our hotel and were just in time for the dinner and the night party that would be held at the rooftop lounge.

After travelling for more than 5 hours, a scrumptious dinner is what we needed. And the La apple restaurant didn’t disappoint. We devoured their coconut rice, ugali, chapati, french fries, beef stew, & fried chicken.

With a full stomach and the good vibes we headed to the rooftop lounge (“its 5 o’clock somewhere’) that was just 1km away. Upon arrival we joined other Nairobians in celebrating the New Year. We laughed, made merry and had tons of fun with each other as we ushered in the New Year.

It was quite a memorable “vuka mwaka” party.

We would then be taken back to our rooms after having the time of our lives. Some good sleep was necessary after the long day.

Namanga cafe

Morning came, and we had a heavy breakfast at the Namanga cafe hotel while enjoying some TZ delicacies.

Eventually, we were on our journey back. We used the Mai mahiu route and made a stop at the escarpments for a cake cutting party for our January babies. And we were on the road again to Nakuru and ready for the new year.

They call us the junkies of adventure. And we always live up to it. Happy new year!
