Itinerary
This itinerary provides a comprehensive exploration of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, combining wildlife viewing with cultural insights for a memorable adventure.
Day 1: Arrival and Afternoon Game Drive
Arrive in Maun, Botswana, and take a short charter flight or drive to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Upon arrival, check-in at your lodge or camp and have a leisurely lunch. In the late afternoon, set out on your first game drive to explore the vast landscapes and spot wildlife such as springbok, oryx, and cheetahs. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full-Day Exploration
Start your day with an early morning game drive to catch the wildlife at their most active. After breakfast back at the lodge, continue exploring the reserve, visiting Deception Valley, known for its stunning views and diverse wildlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush and continue your safari, looking for predators like lions and leopards as well as unique bird species. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon for some relaxation, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Cultural Experience and Scenic Views
Begin with a morning game drive, then return to the lodge for breakfast. Mid-morning, visit a nearby San Bushman village to learn about their traditional way of life and survival skills in the Kalahari. After lunch at the lodge, head out for a scenic drive to explore the northern regions of the reserve, with opportunities to see large herds of herbivores and the elusive brown hyena. Return to the lodge for dinner and your final overnight stay.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Departure
Opt for one last early morning game drive to savor the Kalahari’s beauty and wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast, then check out. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have time for a short nature walk or a visit to another part of the reserve. Transfer back to Maun for your onward journey.
