Itinerary
This itinerary offers a comprehensive exploration of the Maasai Mara, combining thrilling game drives, cultural experiences, and leisure time for a memorable safari adventure.
Day 1: Arrival and Afternoon Game Drive
Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve, a journey of approximately 5-6 hours by road or a short flight. Check in at your lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. In the late afternoon, embark on your first game drive, where you can see the Big Five—lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos—along with numerous other wildlife species in the vast savannah. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drives
Start your day with an early morning game drive to catch the predators and other wildlife at their most active. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Spend the rest of the morning exploring the park’s diverse landscapes and rich wildlife, including a visit to the Mara River to potentially witness the dramatic wildebeest migration (seasonal). Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, head out for another game drive, focusing on different areas of the reserve. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Maasai Village Visit and Leisure Time
After breakfast, visit a local Maasai village to learn about the Maasai people’s culture, traditions, and way of life. Engage with the community and experience their dances and crafts. Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying the lodge’s amenities, such as a pool or spa, or opt for a nature walk. In the evening, enjoy dinner and another overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Departure
Start your final day with an early morning game drive to capture any last sightings of wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast, then check out and transfer back to Nairobi, either by road or flight, with packed lunch en route or a stop at a restaurant. Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon or early evening.
