Day 1: Arrival and Orientation
Arrive in Kigali, Rwanda, and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, approximately a 2.5-hour drive. Check in at your lodge and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. If time permits, visit the nearby Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for an immersive experience of Rwandan culture, traditional dances, and local crafts. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay, preparing for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Adventure
Start your day early with a hearty breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Accompanied by experienced guides, embark on a thrilling trek through the dense forest to find a gorilla family. Spend an unforgettable hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch and a well-deserved rest. In the afternoon, you can opt for a visit to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or enjoy leisure time at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking and Departure
After breakfast, head back to the park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey tracking. Enjoy a morning trek to see these lively and endangered primates, known for their playful behavior and striking golden fur. Return to the lodge for lunch. If you have additional time before departure, visit the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International Karisoke Research Center to learn about the conservation efforts in the region. Check out from the lodge and transfer back to Kigali, where you can catch your flight or continue your journey in Rwanda.
