Itinerary

This itinerary offers a balanced mix of cultural immersion, natural beauty, and historical exploration, ensuring a memorable visit to Turkana.

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration of Lodwar

Arrive in Lodwar, the main town in Turkana County, either by road or flight. Check in at your lodge or hotel and enjoy a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, explore Lodwar, visiting the Lodwar Museum to learn about the history and culture of the Turkana people. Stroll through the local markets to experience the vibrant community life and pick up some unique handicrafts. Return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Visit to Lake Turkana

After an early breakfast, set off for Lake Turkana, the world’s largest permanent desert lake and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a scenic drive with stops to admire the dramatic landscapes. Upon arrival, take a boat trip on the lake to see the famous Central Island, known for its crocodile population and volcanic craters. Have a picnic lunch by the lakeshore and take in the stunning views. In the afternoon, visit El Molo Village, one of the smallest tribes in Kenya, and learn about their unique way of life. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
